The LRTP Process
The Danville Metropolitan Planning Organization (DMPO) updates the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) every five years, providing a framework for transportation improvements in the City of Danville and areas of Pittsylvania County. The LRTP is required for transportation projects or services to receive federal funding. Without that funding, many roadway and multi-modal improvements would not be possible.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization is an entity encouraged by federal legislation whose mandate is to help ensure that current and future expenditures for transportation programs and projects have a basis or foundation in a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive planning--the "3-C" planning process.
Public Hearing Notices
The Danville MPO held a virtual public hearing on the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan to inform residents about the transportation planning process and provide an opportunity to offer public comments. Watch the meeting online.
